It’s never too early to start going green — or growing green in this case.
Cali Bamboo recently donated several bamboo poles to a local preschool class at Wee Care Preschool in Clairemont to be used as pots for their bean sprouts. As part of a lesson about the life cycle of plants, each four-year-old student placed a bean in a small bag with a moistened cotton ball. The class then placed their bags in the sun, and over the course of a week watched them sprout.
When Cali employee Walker Hicks picked up his son and saw the students’ project, he couldn’t help but offer the class some small bamboo pots for their new sprouts. Using some of Cali Bamboo’s sturdy moso bamboo poles, Walker sawed the poles just below each node and then sanded them smooth to create natural cups — the perfect size for the bean plants.
“The class really enjoyed watching the beans grow, and the bamboo pots made the project even more green and fun. Thanks Cali Bamboo!” says the preschoolers’ teacher Mrs. Myrna.
