Other Green Activities for Kids:
▷ Watch Eco-Friendly Movies
Go green for your next family movie night! Movies with a green message can teach your kids important lessons about the environment while being fun and entertaining- even for you! Some of our favorites:
-Wall-E
-Disneynature: Earth
-Happy Feet
-The Lorax
-Fern Gully: The Last Rainforest
▷ Start a Family Garden
Give your kids some hands-on nature experience by planting a kid-friendly garden full of fruits and vegetables in your own backyard! Create a watering schedule, take pictures of the growth, and enjoy the results of a home-grown meal. You can also bike to your local farmer’s market to teach your kids the value of fresh, locally-sourced food.
▷ Go Green with Arts and Crafts
Teach your kids to upcycle and reuse material by getting creative with eco-friendly crafts! Construct a bird feeder out of a recycled milk carton, make a reusable grocery bag from an old tshirt, or create a “robot” from aluminum cans and electrical tape. Get inspired with our Eco-Friendly Crafts for Kids Pinterest board.
▷ Organize a Neighborhood Cleanup
Make a game of keeping your surroundings garbage-free! Invite friends and neighbors to participate in a fun neighborhood cleanup, dividing into teams to see who picks up the most trash.
▷Rewards for Recycling
Show your kids that recycling can be fun! Help them decorate their own recycling box and reward them with a prize when they fill it to the top with recyclables!
